Recently someone posted one of my old works on Deviantart.  When I went to link my complaint to them, I found the old site that it rested on was gone.  So I'll be posting some old works here for future reference.  Here, Raven, Starfire and Batgirl deal with the ever-popular evil twins.

This cover fake was based on the anecdote I'd heard about the origins of the Barbara Gordon Batgirl.  Seems that in 1966, when the Batman TV show was in full mania, the producers went to DC Comics to see if they had any other villainesses in the Batman lore, as the Julie Newmar Catwoman episodes had garnered a lot of positive feedback.  Carmine Infantino came up with a pile of sketches for villainesses, one of them being Poison Ivy and another Silver Fox.  Well the producers tossed ideas back and forth with Infantino and Julie Schwartz and at one point Poison Ivy was going to be on the show.  Then they changed their mind, deciding instead to use Silver Fox, but as a partner to Batman.  Then Silver Fox became Batgirl.  And DC, who had earlier done a Poison Ivy story in anticipation of the TV show, brought Batgirl out in 1967 in anticipation of the show.

So, doing my best Carmine Infantino impression (which isn't that good), I did a cover showing Poison Ivy taking revenge on "Silver Fox" for cheating her out of appearing on the Batman TV show.

Another old piece featuring one (two actually) of my favorite characters to draw.  There's something about Batgirl's design that I just love working with.  As for the picture itself, it's an odd mix of the comic style and the animation style without truly being a synthesis.

Yet another really old picture of mine, drawn in the 90s and colored in the middle 2000s after I discovered the wonders of cyber-coloring.  It features Batgirl, a character I've always loved the design of.  The yellow accessories against the black bodysuit just works to my eye.  Batgirl herself has been such an up and down character, but part of what keeps her from being discarded completely is this look, as originally designed by Carmine Infantino.  He really got this one right.

Harkening back to those wonderful days when Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited ran back to back on Saturday nights.  One day I got the masochistic idea of what it would be like to do a picture with all of the WB animated heroines trussed up and stuffed into a rather cramped space.

Unfortunately, as is a sad trait of mine, my concentration tends to wander after about the third figure in a picture, or the third panel on a page.  I get impatient and start rushing to finish.  That's why Starfire, Raven and Zatanna look so lousy.  That and trying to copy Bruce Timm's style, which is never easy.

The animation Batgirl and Supergirl captured.  Copying Bruce Timm's style is always so difficult for me because he makes unusual anatomy choices that work for HIM.  Not so much for me.

More fun with Batgirl and the Titans.  The Joker plans to torture them by telling them really bad jokes.  Raven's already at the breaking point.

Looking back at it, Joker is clearly too big in the picture and Starfire is too small.

Another request, but one with two subjects I love: Teen Titans and evil twins.  Raven, Starfire and Batgirl have been cloned and their clones programmed to be eeeeeeevillllllll.  And naturally they can't venture out to do evil without swiping the costumes of the originals.

The perspective is a little off.  I should have either dropped the two Starfires lower in the picture or raised the angle of the floor trim.

The Joker kicks the crap out of Batman while Batgirl looks on helplessly.  This has to have been a request, because I don't think I would have drawn Batgirl crying otherwise.  Again I try to mimic the style of the cartoon set by Bruce Timm and again I fall short.
